Attendance is set to reach record levels at the 6th International All-Wheel Drive Congress, which MAGNA STEYR and MAGNA DRIVETRAIN are holding in the Styrian capital together with the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers (ÖVK) on February 3 and 4. MAGNA Vice Chairman Siegfried Wolf will be welcoming no fewer than 500 delegates from 15 countries to Graz’s Stadthalle on the opening day.

Top-class speakers from the automotive and component supply industries and the field of research and development will be giving 22 papers and hosting discussions focusing on the subject of all-wheel drive between motor sports and hybrid drive.

This has attracted such renowned automakers as BMW, DaimlerChrysler, Fiat, Honda, Land Rover, Porsche, PSA Peugeot/Citroën, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen, who will also be sending speakers and congress delegates to Graz – as will the leading automotive suppliers from Robert Bosch and Borg Warner through GKN Driveline and Haldex to Siemens VDO Automotive and ZF Friedrichshafen. Munich, Vienna and Graz universities of technology will also be there in force. The vast majority of the 250 foreign attendees expected will come from Germany, but larger groups from England, France and Sweden and the USA have also registered.

The 6th International All-Wheel Drive Congress, which is reinforcing Graz’s reputation as a “global center for all-wheel drive technology”, has also been well received by the city’s tourist industry. In addition to the Stadthalle as the venue, the local hotels in particular are delighted about the event, which gives them around 500 overnight stays in the middle of the otherwise quiet winter season.
