MAGNA Drivetrain, one of seven operational groups in Canadian automotive supplier Magna International Inc., is a leading global manufacturer of
• All-wheel drive systems and components,
• Drivetrain systems and components,
• Mass balancing systems for engines and
• Complete chassis modules.

Innovative products and technologies have enabled the company to consolidate its leading position even further. The three most successful new SUVs/SAVs to be launched in the recent past, for example, are all equipped with all-wheel drive systems engineered and manufactured by MAGNA Drivetrain:
• the new Mercedes-Benz M-Class (as well as the future Mercedes-Benz R-Class) with ITC (Integrated Transfer Case) technology,
• the new Land Rover Discovery 3 and Sports Tourer models with ITCs in a different configuration specifically for this product,
• and the BMW X3 and X5 models with transfer cases using ATC® technology (Active Torque Control).

In addition, MAGNA Drivetrain supplies all-wheel drive systems to DaimlerChrysler (Chrysler, Mercedes-Benz, Dodge and Jeep), the Ford Group, General Motors, Porsche, Renault and the Volkswagen Group (VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda).

Having acquired a majority interest in New Venture Gear (NVG) with plants in the USA and Germany last year, MAGNA Drivetrain increased its share of the world market for transfer cases to over 50 percent.

It now employs over 5,300 people, including some 400 development engineers, at eight manufacturing facilities in Austria (Lannach, Ilz, Graz and Albersdorf), Germany (Roitzsch), the USA (Syracuse/NY, Atlanta/Georgia) and Mexico (Saltillo), and in three development centers in Lannach, Troy/Michigan (USA) and Syracuse.

MAGNA Drivetrain is also planning on substantially strengthening its market position in the RWD/FWD sector (transmissions and axle drives) and in chassis modules in the future. Greater commitment on the Asian markets should also secure sustained growth for the company.
